Lyle Roberts, an honours student at ANU was awarded the Engineers Australia Undergraduate Prize in Space Engineering, and the VSSEC-NASA Australia Space Prize Engineering category winner for his work on interferometry techniques for the GRACE Follow-on Mission's Laser Ranging Instrument. Lyle's thesis project entitled "High Speed Digitally Enhanced Heterodyne Interferometry" implemented a new technique for laser displacement measurements that promises improved robustness and greater flexibility than conventional techniques.

Lyle will join previous Space Engineering Prize winner Andrew Sutton as a PhD student working on the GRACE Follow-On project at ANU in 2012.
